Seniors share soccer memories

With soccer season ending soon, players reflect on their career

David Cleveland | The Rebel Yell

This Friday, the seven seniors on the women’s soccer team will play their last home game at Peter Johann Memorial Field. Each senior shared their most memorable moment as a Rebel with The Rebel Yell.

UNLV women’s soccer has been the most incredible experience. I’ve made so many unforgettable memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I’m going to miss the road trips, home games, crazy dance parties, inappropriate conversations, the “Who’s House” cheer before the games, getting pumped up off Red Bull and so much more.

But the thing I’m going to miss the most is the wonderful people I have met and the teammates, who not only became my closest friends, but who became my sisters. I’m going to miss you all so much. Thank you guys for making this the most insanely fun, and crazy, four years I think I’ll ever have.

Being a part of the UNLV women’s soccer team is something that I will cherish for the rest of my life. These past four years are full of memories that I will never forget. I will always think of my teammates as family and continue my relationships with them well after soccer is over.

Although there are so many epic memories to choose from, some good, some bad and some I can’t mention, my favorite moments with my team were the killer dance parties we threw in the locker room during our pregames. Let’s just say our dance moves didn’t even touch the Rebel Girls, but everyone threw down their meanest moves anyway and Kathy always DJ’d our raves.
More laughs were shared during this time than any other time I can think of. I wouldn’t trade these memories for the whole world.

During my years playing soccer at UNLV, my most memorable moments stem from our many home games. The Strip lights, fans cheering us on and the energy on the field created an atmosphere like nothing I have ever experienced before in my life. Most of all, I will remember my teammates and I screaming and cheering as we walked out of our locker room down the walkway to our home field.

This is our tradition. Each of these moments made me realize how truly unique and special my team is. We are truly a family. I feel immensely lucky and blessed to be a part of this program and of this family.

As excited as I am to graduate, there is a part of me that doesn’t want to leave UNLV. The biggest reason for that has to be my teammates and the memories that we have created over the past four years. They have become my family and I am going to miss them a lot.

You girls have been with me through the good, the bad and the ugly and you will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for making these past four years so memorable. May God bless you always!

I’ve had lots of great memories at UNLV. I think the most memorable times are on road trips. All sorts of crazy and fun things happen when a group of 20 girls are together all weekend.

I will probably miss those the most, but the greatest thing I will take away from being able to play for the UNLV’s women’s soccer team are the relationships that I formed with my teammates. They are my family now. Being able to play soccer at UNLV is truly a dream come true and I am blessed to have received this opportunity and experience that I will never forget. Go Rebels!

I don’t necessarily have a specific time that I can say is the most memorable because the experience of playing soccer with all of my teammates has been memorable itself. If anything, I find this year the most memorable for the reason that it’s my last and we went from having a rough start to the season to now being in a very good position.

The fact that our team has stuck together and that we have all pushed each other to be better has been a great experience because it shows how much of a family we truly are.
