CSUN scholarship interest up

There has been a significant increase in the number of applications for CSUN scholarships this semester compared to last fall.

Sixty-two students applied for the Tom Weisner scholarships this term, up from 26 last semester.

Applications for the Leadership scholarships rose from 33 to 60, and the Pre-Professional scholarship received 47 applications, up from 19 last semester.

The Head Start scholarship received 28 applications — twice the fall figure.

CSUN members have worked to increase the visibility of the scholarship program by speaking in classrooms, holding events, publishing marketing materials and talking to students one-on-one.

Applicants named senators that had assisted them in applying, including hotel administration senators Karla Washington and Michael Rubin, engineering senator Louis Pombo, health sciences senator Andrew Elkins and liberal arts senator Mark Ciavola.
