April is Earth Month and Aveda, the international skin and hair-care manufacturer, is offering customers discounted haircuts and special products. Proceeds go to awareness and advocacy for clean water.
“Part of our mission is to give back to society,” said Mia Krejcik, active team leader for the store in the Fashion Show Mall. “There are a lot of events that give back to local charities.”
One of the events is April’s Cut-a-thon. Every Sunday, Monday and Thursday from 1-6 p.m. customers can receive $25 haircuts from a master Aveda stylist at any store, salon or spa.
Each $25 donation goes to Western Resource Advocates, which works toward cleaner energy and water, as well as water conservation and river restoration.
They are also offering a lavender, stress-reducing candle, handy for finals week, made from all natural products in candleholders that were once wine cooler bottles. Funds go to help Global Greengrants disperse grants that protect and replenish water sources.
“Two candles can give a family of four clean water for one year,” said Krejcik.
Over the years Aveda has raised more than $18 million during Earth Month and funded hundreds of water-related projects in dozens of countries.
