A public meeting concerning UNLV Now, a Mega-Events center project that is part of the UNLV Master Plan, will be held on Monday, Oct. 7 at noon in the Si Redd Room at the Thomas & Mack Center to discuss the appointment of new officers and members to the board. There will be presentation for a proposed work plan for the Board, as well as a proposed meeting schedule which will also be discussed. The Nevada System of Higher Education will hold its Southern Nevada Diversity Summit on Friday, Oct. 4 from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. at UNLV in The Philip Cohen Theatre. Titled “Building Strong Minority Serving Institutions in Nevada to Enhance Student Success,” the event will feature keynote speakers Congressman Steven Horsford and Congresswoman Dina Titus. Registration is required as only 300 seats are available, but the event is free and open to public. On Sept. 10 USNews ranked UNLV as one of the top 10 most diverse national universities, with a diversity index of 0.72, in the Campus Ethnic Diversity category of its best colleges rankings. UNLV is tied for 6th place.
