According to spokeswoman Marie-Michelle Verrier, 27 people have been arrested since the attack, and other suspects are being sought in connection with the July 7 attack on the president’s residence.
Nine other police officers remain in custody for questioning among a group of 44 suspects whose roles were played in the attack or whose negligence in their respective functions was shown.
The authorities are also asking the population to help advance the investigation. Anyone with information about the wanted person is asked to contact the authorities.
Marie-Michelle Verrier emphasizes that anyone whose information leads to the arrest of wanted suspects will receive important rewards. However, she did not say the likely amount.
Last Monday, the national police arrested Jean Laguel Civil, who was serving as President Moïse’s security coordinator.
Among the suspects arrested so far are 18 former Colombian soldiers allegedly hired as mercenaries. Other wanted people include Windelle Coq Thelot, a former rebel leader, former senator and judge of the Haiti Supreme Court.
But the identity of the real organizers and sponsors of the conspiracy, which required the recruitment of Colombian mercenaries and the involvement of at least two American companies based in Florida, is still in mystery.
