The American billionaire Elon Musk intends to make a large investment in the Internet business. Precisely, the head of Tesla announced this Tuesday, June 29, 2021, during the Mobile World Congress, that he planned to inject between 20 and 30 billion dollars in his satellite internet access project, Starlink.
It is made up of at least 1,500 satellites.
The objective of the project is to provide Internet access to populations in the most remote areas. In addition, Starlink has been in business for a while, as it already offers its customers a trial service. It aims to cover almost the entire planet starting this year. Note that to achieve its goals, Starlink already has a vast satellite network made up of at least 1,500 satellites, in orbit. It is currently active in at least twelve countries and, according to Elon Musk, new satellites are added to existing ones every month.
However, this does not prevent the billionaire from always aiming higher. In fact, while the current number of his clients is 69,000, he intends to do his best to reach 500,000 over the next twelve months. The Tesla boss also discussed, during the Mobile World Congress, the costs of Starlink’s initial investments. According to him, it would be 5 to 10 billion dollars before the latter shows a positive flow.
