(Washington) Joe Biden on Friday estimated that new health recommendations or restrictions would be “likely” to be introduced in the United States amid the recurrence of COVID-19 cases, while welcoming the resumption of vaccinations in the country.

When asked whether Americans should expect new recommendations from health officials or new binding measures, the US president “probably” replied before leaving the White House by helicopter for the weekend.

He didn’t say what measures he was talking about, however, as U.S. federal officials, as well as local officials and companies, recently tightened their health protocols.

The US president added, however, that the United States had a “good day” for vaccination Thursday with around a million injections as his administration worked to revive a somewhat stalled vaccination campaign.

The Biden government has raised its tone significantly in recent days amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in the country fueled by the rapid spread of the highly contagious Delta variant.

Health officials have recommended Americans wear a mask to self-vaccinated individuals indoors where the virus circulates.

The federal administration has now tightened the rules for its millions of employees, who either have to be vaccinated or have to comply with regular tests and continuous mask wear in areas with low spread of the virus.
